The less your car idles the less fuel is consumed. *Keep your vehicle in working order. Change your oil & air filter at regular intervals. Check for proper tire pressure. *Empty the excess items out of your car. Extra weight consumes fuel. *Use air condition on highway trips. For driving around town, roll down the windows. *Do not top off your tank and do not use higher octane than your car requires. *Drive the speed limit and accelerate slowly. SHOPPING TIP: Go with a game plan. Write out a list of items needed, when you notice them. Keep the list handy and add to it as needed. Write out which store you will purchase the item. When you go to shop, map out the most direct route from your home to each store and back home. This saves gasoline and lowers the stress of forgetting items you wanted to purchase. HOUSE CLEANING TIP: Instead of spending a day cleaning, take 15 minutes each day to clean one area. Ex: Clean only the sinks Clean only the toilets Dust picture frames Vacuum floors Clean kitchen counters KITCHEN TIP: Run the dishwasher before going to bed.
